Biography
Becoming interested in art in his late teens, Michael Hopkins earned his Associates of Fine Arts degree in 1981 from William Rainey Harper College in Palatine IL. He then continued his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago, graduating in 1985. Hopkins works with a variety of mediums and materials in his portfolio, including (but not limited to) white ink on slate, pastels on masonite, gouache on paper, and acrylic on white plastic. Typically, he maintains a black and white color scheme so that the viewer will focus on the composition, rather than the colors. He exhibits his work in various galleries across the United States and has many pieces in permanent and private collections.
