BiographyThe etcher and landscape painter Léopold Desbrosses was born in Bouchain (Nord). His brothers Joseph and Jean were both also artists. Léopold Desbrosses was a pupil of Delaroche and Corot. His atmospheric landscapes of Normandy and the Ile-de-France are influenced by Corot and the Impressionnists. Desbrosses made his debut at the Salon de Paris in 1848. As an engraver he won a medal of the third class in 1885, a medal of the second class in 1895, and a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900.
