John Frank Sampson

John Frank Sampson was born on March 24, 1928, in Edmore, ND. He earned his BA from Concordia College in 1950 and his MFA degree from the University of Iowa in 1952. Sampson was on the Department of Art faculty at the University of Colorado in Boulder from 1961 until his retirement in 1990. He was awarded the title Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts following retirement. Sampson was awarded a Fulbright in Brussels, Belgium for painting and printmaking in 1959-60. Sampson has participated in numerous solo exhibitions and group shows. His art appears in public collections such as the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, NE, the Library of Congress, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN.
