Théophile Narcisse Chauvel

Biography
Pupil of Picot, and Caruelle of Aligny Bellel, he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts March 4, 1854 and studied painting workshops. The same year he obtained the second prize in Rome for historical landscape. His first time at the Salon of 1855 he is a landscape Remembrance Park Neuilly. He painted and exhibited until 1859. At that time, he enjoys etching depicting, among other views of the forest of Fontainebleau, and reproductions of works of the masters of the school of 1830, nature school where he met Jules Dupré, Camille Corot ... He works for the newspaper Art in which prints are reproduced from T. Rousseau, Jules Dupré, Diaz, Daubigny. But it is in his interpretations of Corot he says his mastery. Chauvel was medalist in 1870, 1873, 1878, Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1879, Medal of Honor in 1881 grand prix in 1889, officher of the Legion of Honour in 1896, Grand Prize in 1900.
