Jane Rekedal

Biography
Jane Rekedal was born November 14, 1952. She earned a BA degree in art from Luther College in 1975. She also studied ceramics with Dean Schwarz at his South Bear School in Decorah, IA in 1973 and 1974. In 1975 and 1976, she studied with ceramics artist Marguerite Wildenhain at her summer Pond Farm workshops. From 1975 to the present she has been the owner of Family Gooey Pottery in Aromas, CA. She works both in porcelain and stoneware hosting open studios three times a year. Rekedal also has taught as an art instructor at Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA, since 1979. The Face Vase donated by Rekedal to the Pond Farm Collection is made from porcelain, glazed celedon green. It features male and female faces, carved freehand into the porcelain. The vase was wheel-thrown and high fired to 2350 degrees F. The celedon glaze was reduction fired.
