Biography
Joanne Goudie was born on March 17, 1930, in East St. Louis, Illinois. She received her BA degree from Lindenwood College, St. Charles, Missouri, in 1952 and her MFA from the University of Iowa in 1954. While at Iowa, she studied with the artist, Stuart Edie. In 1954, she moved to Galesburg, Illinois, where she taught art to junior high students for several years. She also taught painting at Monmouth College for one year. From 1967 to 1990, she developed the art department and taught art appreciation, art history, and studio courses at Cal Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois. She retired from teaching in 1990 but maintained a studio in her home. Goudie has entered a number of exhibitions throughout the Midwest.
