Nathan Bray

Nathan Bray received his BFA in ceramics from Bemidji State University. His pottery has been exhibited both regionally and across the US, including exhibits at the Carbondale Clay Center in Colorado where he was a resident artist from 2010 – 2011. Using the Jerome Grant, he began his exploration of new temperatures and materials, moving from cone 10 porcelain to cone 3 – 4 terracotta works. Bray says, “I would like to push the limits of what can be done firing at the high end of low-fire...[while] being more environmentally conscious. I feel there is great potential for firing in this range as the clay is extremely vitrified and can offer me a mix of colorful, runny and stable glazes, like those that I have used for years with my cone 10 glazes.”
