Jeanne Aurelius

Biography
Jeanne Anne (Svein) Aurelius was born in 1952. After graduating from Luther College with a degree in art and elementary education in 1974, Jeanne and her husband, David, founded Clay Bay Pottery in Ellison Bay, WI. Jeanne attended the Pond Farm summer workshops founded by Marguerite Wildenhain between 1973 and 1980.

In addition to managing Clay Bay Pottery, Jeanne and her husband have been artists-in-residence at schools across Wisconsin. They have led large-scale mural projects for churches and community non-profit organizations, but most of their projects have been in elementary schools. Jeanne states, “It is very exciting for children to see their drawings transformed into clay and for their tiles to be combined to create an imaginative mural that sings with the energy and vitality unique to children.”
